Holiday Gift Card Promotion Puts Club Champion on Par for Record Sales

Club Champion sold nearly 4,800 gift cards during the week, a 2,700% increase over the same period last year that featured no promotion. 

The demand for digital gifting has reached an all-time high with consumers planning to do 60% of their shopping online. Consumers expect to spend 40% of their holiday gift budget on gift cards, a 19% increase over 2019. They plan to buy an average of 10 gift cards, double the number from 2019, according to the Blackhawk Network BrandedPay™ Holiday 2020 Report. eGift cards have experienced enormous growth this year and data from Blackhawk’s partners shows that sales of eGift cards sold on merchants’ websites are up 74% over 2019. Over 80% of the gift cards sold during the Club Champion promotion were eGift cards.

  1. A golf club fitting session is a great gift idea because golfers love trying out the latest technology in their quest to improve. So they’ll jump at the chance to try out a variety of club heads, shafts, putters, etc., and to see their “numbers” on Trackman, just like the pros on TV. Whether it’s the smell of the grip solvent, I don’t know, but most golfers love the atmosphere of a club-fitting shop.

    From the club fitter’s viewpoint, gift cards for custom fittings are a fantastic idea too because having had the chance to show golfers their golf swing data, it’s an easy sell to get them to upgrade their current equipment to something that fits them better. Thus the customer is happy and so is the store owner, a perfect win-win.
